A step further in India for the Estée Lauder Companies, which bought a minority stake in a Delhi-based privately held beauty products player Forest Essentials.

Forest Essentials, which was founded 8 years ago, manufactures, markets and sells beauty products based on Ayurvedic formulations. The US group has been present in India since 2005 with six brands including MAC, Tommy Hilfiger, Donna Karan, Aramis, Clinique and Estée Lauder.

"Forest Essentials gives us a stronger presence in the rapidly expanding prestige beauty business in India. This agreement will help us expand our growing expertise and competitiveness in the natural products arena while Forest Essentials will benefit from our long history of successful brand management and global expansion," the Estée Lauder CEO William P Lauder commented.
