The Indue double-chamber glass bottle is designed for formulations in which active ingredients need to remain separate until the moment of dispensing. This is particularly relevant for vitamin C, whose stability and antioxidant properties can be compromised by exposure to air or interaction with other active ingredients. Other actives, including niacinamide, retinol and AHAs, as well as biphasic formulations combining aqueous and oily phases, can also benefit from on-demand mixing.

To help brands develop cosmetic products that combine a luxury positioning with enhanced protection for sensitive formulations, Bormioli Luigi has developed an innovative molded glass solution.

The Indue bottle presented by the Italian glassmaker at Luxe Pack Monaco features two chambers of different capacities, designed to accommodate the most common 2:1 formulation ratio.

According to Bormioli Luigi, the industrial challenge lies in integrating two separate cavities within a single bottle while ensuring uniform glass distribution throughout the container.

To deliver a solution ready for product development, Bormioli Luigi partnered with Aptar Beauty, which developed a closure with a dedicated dispensing system capable of delivering the precise dosage of each formula, mixing them at the moment of application.

A tailor-made solution

The Indue bottle can be customized to meet brand requirements, from glass decoration to bespoke shapes and chamber configurations, including a 50:50 capacity split, for example.

With Indue, meaning “the two together” in Italian, Bormioli Luigi and Aptar Beauty aim to offer brands a new approach to dual-formula packaging, combining luxury appeal, formula protection and recyclability.

“Brands can fully embrace the concept through distinctive designs, formulation-compatible pumps, customized capacities and, of course, decoration options,” highlights Bormioli Luigi in a release.
