The Beauty Business Unit of the French plastic packaging manufacturer has partnered with Yom Beauty to develop the packaging for its new LipSafe-certified lip care range. The young brand ensures that all its ingredients are both cosmetic- and food-grade, and microplastic-free, making the products safe in the event of accidental ingestion.

For the launch, FaiveleyTech has produced a lid and spatula made of bio-based Sulapac Solid material.

Inspired by Irish wishing stones, the jar features an organic shape designed to fit naturally and comfortably in the palm of the hand. FaiveleyTech’s teams based in Orgelet, France, were responsible for the overall technical challenge of the closure and application system, developing both the lid and the spatula.

A triple industrial and technical challenge

FaiveleyTech has leveraged its industrial knowhow to deliver several key innovations for this launch:

According to the company, the development, fine-tuning, and qualification were completed in a very short timeframe, “without compromising on quality, demonstrating the teams’ ability to adapt with both efficiency and rigor.”

With this project, FaiveleyTech is bringing Sulapac Solid to the beauty market for the first time. Used in its natural, dye-free shade, the material reveals a distinctive pearlescent finish that meets the aesthetic standards of the luxury sector. Made from bio-based polymers and clay minerals, it offers a unique ceramic-like feel, is PFAS-free, and biodegrades without leaving microplastics behind.

In a further step toward enhanced naturality, this is also the first time FaiveleyTech has developed a seal made from Sulapac material. Assembled without adhesives nor PE or PP layer, the lid is a mono-material structure, which is designed to support recovery as recycling streams for bio-based materials develop.

"Every part of this product had to meet the same standard, inside the jar and out. FaiveleyTech understood immediately why a lid that sheds microplastics would undo everything we were trying to build. The Pebble is proof that you can hold luxury and integrity in the same hand," said Laura DiGirolamo, co-founder of Yom.
