Symrise’s latest cosmetic launch is responding to rising demand for high-performance skincare with natural-origin credentials. Building on the scientific heritage of the Dragosine range, this multi-functional skin longevity dipeptide is based on L-carnosine obtained through biofermentation. Dragosine green extends Symrise’s Care & Wellness portfolio and supports the industry’s shift from traditional corrective anti-aging toward proactive skin longevity and “well-aging” concepts.

Long-term skin resilience

The new ingredient supports skin longevity through three complementary mechanisms: 360° exposome protection, structural longevity and visible skin improvement. It helps protect the skin against environmental stressors, including UV-induced oxidative stress, blue light, infrared radiation and heat.

At the same time, Dragosine green strengthens biological processes associated with maintaining skin structure and quality, including collagen formation, protection against glycation, epidermal cell proliferation and fibronectin production. It also addresses mechanisms associated with cellular senescence, helping to preserve skin integrity, firmness and elasticity over time.

According to Symrise, the ingredient is particularly suited to the emerging prejuvenation trend, which focuses on maintaining skin quality before visible signs of aging become pronounced. Its combination of preventive and visible benefits enables brands to develop products positioned around long-term skin resilience rather than conventional anti-aging.

Formulation flexibility

From a formulation perspective, Dragosine green is water-soluble and can be used at concentrations as low as 0.2%. It also offers stability under air and heat exposure, supporting its integration into a broad range of applications, including face and body care, sun care, dermocosmetics and natural-origin skincare.

Dragosine green combines the proven efficacy and scientific heritage of the Dragosine range with the natural-origin profile and formulation flexibility that brands increasingly seek,” says Nathalie Chevrot, Global Skin Care Category Director, Advanced Actives at Symrise. “With this new ingredient, we help customers move beyond traditional anti-aging claims and create skincare concepts that support skin longevity and long-lasting resilience,” she adds.

With this latest launch, Symrise is positioning L-carnosine within the fast-growing skin longevity category while addressing the industry’s increasing demand for natural-origin ingredients backed by robust science-based data.
