Lancaster’s new Sun Sensitive line becomes the first ever sun care range to receive a Silver C2C Certified Material Health Certificate from the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute.

The certification indicates that 100% of the ingredients in the line meet the Institute’s strict criteria to ensure they are as safe as possible for humans and the environment. It helps Lancaster to better address growing consumer interest in knowing more about the chemicals used in products and avoiding certain chemicals of concern.

The Coty’s brand is therefore launching its first clean, vegan and minimalist [1] sun care range, and its most environmentally friendly yet, in particular thanks to an ocean friendly broad spectrum UV filter system [2] and eco-designed tubes and bottles containing at least 50% post-consumer recycled materials.

Lancaster also aims to use this certification as a first step to improve the sustainability and safety of its sun care products over time.

This announcement follows several other notable premieres for Coty in the field of sustainable development: last year in April, Calvin Klein’s CK Everyone fragrance achieved a C2C Material Health Certificate at the Silver level, and last month, the group announced a partnership with LanzaTech to introduce sustaibable ethanol made from captured-carbon emissions into its fragrance products by 2023.

According to Coty CEO, Sue Y. Nabi, sustainability is now a key innovation driver for beauty brands. “Today’s consumer rightly expects that their favourite products also deliver when it comes to environmental performance,” she added.
