The paperboard maker has added a new uncoated solid bleached sulfate (SBS) board to its portfolio of premium packaging solutions. Showcased at the Luxe Pack Monaco trade show from on 29 September to 1st October 2025, Ensovelvet offers a velvet-like smoothness on both sides with a more natural look that coated paperboards while retaining good finishing possibilities.
Designed to meet the growing demand for natural and renewable luxury packaging solutions, Ensovelvet combines a natural uncoated surface with excellent stiffness, and reliable folding performance.
“This bright, premium SBS board provides an enhanced sensory experience while ensuring excellent printability. It is especially well-suited for cosmetics packaging, perfumes, and other high-end applications where touch and appearance are equally important,” Stora Enso highlights.
This launch caters to brand owners looking for premium packaging that embodies minimalism and natural elegance. With its uncoated surface, Ensovelvet requires fewer materials in production — reducing its carbon footprint and perfectly aligning luxury with sustainability.
Ensovelvet complements Stora Enso’s flagship Ensocoat board with an uncoated solution to provide brands and converters looking for high-end products with a coherent SBS carton range. Both boards are recyclable, supporting the shift towards circular packaging solutions.
“Luxury packaging is about more than protection. It’s about creating an impression. Ensovelvet gives brand owners a material with a distinctive, natural surface that helps their products stand out in a crowded marketplace. By adding it alongside Ensocoat, we now offer a complete SBS range that meets today’s design trends and tomorrow’s performance demands,” said Tomas Larsson, Head of Product Line FBB, SBS, Liner, and Book Paper at Stora Enso.
Ensovelvet is available from 240 g/m2 to 320 g/m2.
