Eurofragance has appointed Olegario Monegal as Global Business Unit Director, Home & Personal Care, effective May 10, 2021. In its newly created role, Mr. Monegal will lead the global development of the company’s functional perfumery business. He will be responsible for accelerating the growth rate of the two categories. He will report to Laurent Mercier, Chief Executive Officer.

A fragrance veteran, Olegario Monegal has spent his entire career in the perfumery industry. He brings to Eurofragance experience gathered in South and North America, Asia and Europe, particularly in the Home and Personal Care categories. While most of his career was spent at Firmenich, he most recently held the position of General Manager at Iberchem, prior to their acquisition by Croda.

Mr. Monegal was born and raised in Barcelona where he graduated from ESADE Business School with an MBA, specializing in Marketing and Finance. Asked about being back in his hometown, Monegal says: “I am excited to apply the perfumery competencies and knowledge I’ve accumulated around the world to an up-and-coming fragrance house in a city that is so dear to me.

Fragranced home and body care products are a key area of growth for Eurofragance. “In our industry, a fine fragrance typically contributes good business margins to the bottom line, but volumes are small; a laundry detergent offers narrow margins, but volumes are big; and a shower gel probably fits between the two. We must compete - and win - on all three fronts to ensure continued profitability and growth,” explained Olegario Monegal.
