A few months after having completed the certification process, o Boticário is the first major Brazilian brand to launch a line of organic cosmetic products certified by Ecocert / Cosmos.

Four products

The new Nativa SPA orgânico line offers formulas with natural ingredients resulting from organic farming and free from mineral oil, paraffin or petroleum jelly, silicones, parabens, sulfates and dyes. The vegan products also feature 100% natural fragrances.

The line includes four products (a moisturizing lotion in 400 ml and 200 ml versions, a 300 ml shampoo and a 300 ml conditioner) and provides the benefits of organic quinoa extract, an active ingredient that is rich in amino-acids and vitamin E to maintain healthier and stronger skin, and shinier hair.

Another advantage of the range, the orange hydrolat, an ingredient used in partnership with the concentrated fruit juice industry, according to a production process that avoids wasting fruits. Rich in vitamin C, this ingredient has an antioxidant action.

In addition, the moisturizing lotion contains mango butter, known for its emollient action on the skin.

Finally, in order to reduce the environmental impact, shampoo and conditioner benefit from biodegradable formulas.

First step

To be able to produce this line, o Boticário had to adapt its production chain (cultivation, extraction, formulation, manufacturing) and its factory to the requirements of the Cosmos standard and was certified by Ecocert.

For us, this is a first step and the start of a great transformation. Our main goal is not only to talk to those who are already convinced by organic products, but to make o Boticário customers understand the importance of organic farming and the benefits these products bring to the skin and hair,” Explains Vanessa Machado, o Boticário skin care Manager.

In addition to this organic certification, on which it has been working for two years, the Brazilian company boast other sustainability and ethical credentials. Its products benefit from the Beauty Without Bunnies label from PETA (Ethical Treatment of Animals). In 2019, the brand also obtained the Leaping Bunny seal. While o Boticario has stopped testing its products on animals for more than 20 years, these tests are not prohibited in all states of the country.

With Boti Recicla, the brand also operates the largest Brazilian packaging return program. Consumers can return empty packaging to the nearest store, to be recycled.

The Nativa SPA Orgânico line has been available since October 13 in all o Boticário stores in Brazil and on the brand’s website, www.boticario.com.br
