The French flavors and fragrances house has acquired the Belgian biotechnology company ChemoSensoryx Biosciences. With this acquisition, Mane intends to strengthen innovation capabilities.

Indeed, ChemoSensoryx Biosciences has developed a cutting-edge expertise in molecular mechanism of chemosensory perception mediated by olfactory, gustatory and trigeminal receptors.

This acquisition will allow Mane to deepen its scientific understanding of how smells, tastes, and sensations like freshness or spiciness are perceived. In particular, Mane expect to be able to create more innovative and precise flavor and fragrance solutions.

Headquartered in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, ChemoSensoryx develops high throughput screening methodology on the whole repertoire of olfactory, taste and trigeminal human receptors. This running technology platform offers innovative solutions in the discovery, predictive modelling and optimization of active ingredients able to modulate these human sensory receptors, enabling the development of advanced sensory solutions for the flavor and fragrance industries.

This acquisition is set to enhance Mane’s capabilities in several key areas: odor control and blooming technologies; taste modulation research (through a better understanding of sensory perceptions like sweetness, bitterness, umami or kokumi to support the development of next-generation taste solutions); olfactory receptor modulation and better understanding on how fragrances trigger emotional and physiological responses; trigeminal receptor modulation in order to support advanced research programs to mediate some cooling, pungent, tingling or burning sensory performances.

A family-owned group, Mane is a key global player in the flavors and fragrances sector, operating 52 R&D centers and 31 production sites around the world. The group employs more than 8,000 people in 40 countries.
