As Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna prepares to celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2027, the international beauty trade show is turning the spotlight towards the people, processes and expertise that create beauty products. Through The Invisible Beauty, a new communication project, the show’s organizers aim to showcase the often-overlooked work behind the cosmetics industry and the interconnected value chain that drives its development.
The industry’s hidden connections
From laboratory research and formulation development to packaging design, supplier expertise, brand strategy and retail decisions, the journey from an initial idea to a finished product involves a wide range of skills and stakeholders. The Invisible Beauty seeks to give greater visibility to these contributions, emphasizing the role of collaboration in bringing innovations to market and anticipating consumer needs.
"With The Invisible Beauty, we want to look beyond what is immediately visible and recognise the value of the people, expertise, relationships and processes that contribute every day to the growth of the sector," says Enrico Zannini, General Manager of BolognaFiere Cosmoprof.
Five perspectives on the beauty industry
The initiative will unfold over the coming months through five storytelling pillars.
Invisible People will showcase the professionals working behind the scenes, while Invisible Match will explore how partnerships and exchanges can generate new ideas and innovations. Invisible Failure will examine the role of experimentation and resilience in product development. Invisible Value will highlight the economic contribution of the beauty ecosystem, and Invisible Future will look at the technologies and transformations shaping the industry’s next chapter.
Through this project, Cosmoprof also reaffirms its role as a platform connecting suppliers, brands, distributors, markets, institutions, media and professionals across the cosmetics value chain.
A human perspective
Developed in collaboration with industry stakeholders, the initiative will culminate during Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna 2027 with a photographic exhibition and an original short film.
The exhibition will feature portraits of Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna employees, highlighting the people and expertise behind the organization of the event itself. By bringing these often-unseen contributors into focus, the exhibition will offer visitors and exhibitors a more personal perspective on the work required to bring the international gathering together each year.
An original short film will complement the exhibition, following a personal journey that reflects the time, experimentation, relationships and perseverance involved in achieving success. The film will premiere at the press conference for Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna 2027.
Through The Invisible Beauty, Cosmoprof aims to use its 60th anniversary not only to celebrate its history, but also to recognize the collective effort that continues to shape the global cosmetics industry.
