Aptar Beauty has announced U.S. production of its innovative AAT Vertical Slider Aerosol Valve. Engineered for reliable dispensing of complex, high-particle formulations, this advanced valve solution enhances performance in pressurized packaging, delivering smooth, consistent spray for enhanced customer experience.

U.S. production is now available at the group’s Cary, Illinois facility, reducing lead times and accelerating speed to market for North American brand owners.

AAT’s 3.5 mm stem design addresses critical functional challenges of standard valves that commonly lead to clogging in particle-rich formulations. Conventional valve designs are prone to stem gasket flexing during actuation, as the valve opens and closes, which promotes heavy product build up. Over time, powder accumulation between the gasket and the stem results in inconsistent performance, potential valve blockage, propellant leakage, and reduced product evacuation.

The valve’s straight shank system minimizes gasket flexing and actively wipes residual powder from the stem during each use to minimize product build up. According to Aptar, this design ensures consistent flow during use by reducing valve clogging, preventing propellant leakage that can lead to a “dead can,” and maintaining optimal discharge efficiency.

As it meets the growing demand for aerosolized powder applications across a wide range of personal care products — including dry shampoos, glitter sprays, hair and body shimmer mists, hair volumizers, hair root touch-ups, makeup setting sprays, all-over deodorants, foot powders, shimmer paints, and insect repellents — the AAT Vertical Slider Aerosol Valve AAT can be paired with Aptar Beauty’s versatile range of premium aerosol actuators.

The portfolio includes: twist-to-lock actuators, such as Tina, an aerosol actuator designed for spray applications; hooded actuators, including Meridian, WS25, WS30, WS40, and WS55, combining contemporary designs with effortless dispensing; button actuators, such as WAZ and XL400, deliver precise, user-friendly control.

We are addressing one of the most persistent challenges in high-powder formulations: valve clogging, by delivering a solution that significantly improves performance, consistency, and reliability for our customers. The manufacturing localization in the US of the AAT Valve reflects Aptar Beauty’s commitment to combining breakthrough innovation with local agility. Bringing production to our Cary, Illinois facility further strengthens our ability to support brands with faster lead times, enhanced responsiveness, and greater supply chain flexibility. Ultimately, this innovation enables our customers to bring differentiated, high-quality products to market more efficiently while elevating the end-user experience,” said Ryan Kenny, President, Aptar Beauty North America.
