French shoe maker Christian Louboutin and Spanish perfumes and cosmetics group Puig (Nina Ricci, Paco Rabanne, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Penhaligon’s and L’Artisan Parfumeur) have inked a long-term licensing agreement for the creation, development, and distribution of new ranges of beauty products.

Christian Louboutin launched its first nail varnishes in 2014 taking inspiration from their iconic shoes.

Christian Louboutin is entering into a long-term with Puig for the creation, development and distribution of beauty products under the Christian Louboutin brand,” said the two companies in a joint release.

According to the French shoe designer, “Puig will be able to develop my vision of beauty according to the brand values.

Christian Louboutin recently extended its beauty range to fragrances.

Christian Louboutin launched its first beauty products in 2014 in partnership with Batallure Beauty. He initially introduced nail polishes before extended to lips make-up (lipsticks, lipglosses) then to fragrances and eyes make-up. Thanks to the agreement with Puig, Louboutin should be able to expand its line and enter into new markets with a wider distribution network.

In addition to its owned brands, the Puig’s beauty portfolio also includes licensed brands such as Prada, Valentino and Comme des Garçons. However, the share of makeup is low in this portfolio and the agreement with Louboutin should help the group to grow into this category.
