The digital platform specializing in fashion and lifestyle in Europe has appointed Thomas Schwulera as Vice President of Beauty. Mr Schwulera will lead the entire strategy for Zalando’s beauty offering, which has experienced double-digit growth over the past year.

Thomas Schwulera joins from L’Oréal, where over the past decade he held leadership roles across several European markets and at the global headquarters in Paris, gaining extensive experience in digital transformation, e-commerce, and premium beauty brand management.

According to Zalando, this appointment underlines the platform’s strategic aim to expand its offering in the Beauty category.

With 76% of Zalando’s 52 million active customers already shopping across multiple categories, Beauty presents a strong opportunity for continued growth. Zalando offers a carefully curated selection of leading beauty brands, seamlessly integrated into its fashion and lifestyle ecosystem, while standing out through discovery experiences designed to inspire and entertain,” the company stated in a press release.

Thomas Schwulera and his team will focus on accelerating Zalando’s beauty sales growth in Europe through “better curation, technology-enabled personalization, and engaging content formats.
