Ifop interviewed a panel of more than 8,000 women in France, China and Russia, to determine what they consider as the most important parts of their body, what are the ones they like the least, and the ones for which they would be willing to spend more.

The findings of this study help to explain some underlying trends, such as the dramatic increase of cosmetic surgery in China,” says Laure Friscourt, Director of the Consumer-Beauty Department of the Ifop group. “They also bring to light real business and innovation opportunities, for instance regarding hair care products in Russia.

The Ifop study also shows that in the three countries, the face is considered as the most important part of the body by 60% of women.

However, while 42% of French and 35% of Russian women consider hair as a priority, Chinese women consider it is minor concern.

Additionally, more Chinese women than French and Russian say they are willing to spend more for the various parts of their body: 58% would spend more for their belly, 40% for their breasts and, above all, one Chinese woman out of four is willing to spend more for her face.
