The U.S. beauty retailer has made its official debuts on the Mexican market in August with the opening of its first stores in the country’s capital. Ulta Beauty’s first store in Mexico opened on August 21 at Antara Fashion Hall in Mexico City, followed by Galerías Metepec on August 30, with further openings scheduled to debut across the country throughout the year.
To commemorate this milestone in its international expansion, Ulta Beauty will host a private grand opening celebration on September 18, 2025, at its Antara store, inviting beauty enthusiasts and VIP guests to experience the brand’s signature mix of products.
“Entering Mexico represents a bold and exciting step for Ulta Beauty as we bring our unparalleled assortment and inclusive shopping experience to beauty lovers in this significant international market,” said Kecia Steelman, President and CEO of Ulta Beauty.
Last year, Ulta formed a joint venture with Grupo Axo, a major player in the prestige fashion and beauty sectors in Mexico, Chile, Uruguay and Peru, with the aim to duplicate its successful ‘All Things Beauty. All in One Place’ business model across Mexicos’ main cities.
With his opening, 35 beauty brands are making their briack-and-mortar debut in Mexico, including Ulta Beauty exclusives Isima by Shakira, Peach & Lily, Orebella, Ulta Beauty Collection and U.S. shoppers’ favorites like Morphe, Bubble, about-face, Ouai, Half Magic and Kitsch. A series of local Mexican beauty brands is completing the specific offering, including Ahal, AloeVida, Bailando Juntos by Yuya, Sarelly Creativo Lab by Anna Sarelly.
“Mexico is home to one of the world’s most dynamic and passionate beauty communities,” highlighted Andrés Gómez, CEO and chairman of the board at Grupo Axo. “We are proud to partner with Ulta Beauty to bring their one-of-a-kind retail experience to our market. Together, we look forward to inspiring guests with a fresh vision of beauty, powered by community, service, and innovation.”
Ulta Beauty Mexico plans to open several stores across the country in 2025, including in Altacia (León); Antara (Mexico City); Fórum Tlaquepaque (Guadalajara); Galerías Guadalajara (Guadalajara); Galerías Metepec (State of Mexico); Península Tijuana (Tijuana); Plaza Fiesta San Agustín Monterrey (Monterrey); Plaza Satélite (State of Mexico); Vía Viva, (Guadalajara).
Ulta Beauty’s Mexico debut follows the entry of the U.S. retailer in Europe with the acquisition of the Space NK retail chain in the UK and Ireland this summer.
Last month, the retailer raised its annual sales and profit forecast after reporting “better-than-expected profitability” in the second quarter of fiscal 2025, which ended on August 2. Comparable sales increased 6.7% in Q2 2025, compared to a decrease of 1.2%, during the same period last year. Growth was driven by a 3.7% increase in transactions and a 2.9% increase in average ticket. Gross profit increased 11.6% to $1.1 billion compared to $978.2 million over the same in 2024.
