In response to the tariff increase of 25% on steel and 10% on aluminium decided by the United States, the European Union has decided to tax several products originating from the United States.

The European Union has implemented additional customs duties certain cosmetic products originating in the USA

Effective on June 22, 2018 [1], certain US exports to the EU will face extra duties. Additional ad valorem duty at the rate of 25% shall apply to some cosmetic products:

H.S. reference Description
3304.20 Eye makeup preparations
3304.30 Manicure or pedicure preparations
3304.91 Makeup or skin care powders, including baby powders, whether or not compressed (excluding medicaments)

In a second step, from June 1st, 2012, or sooner depending on the ruling of the WTO Dispute Settlement Body, additional products may be concerned, such as:

– Essential oil of orange: Not deterpenated (3301 12 10), with a 10% additional tariff.
– Essential oil of lemon: Not deterpenated (3301 13 10), with a 10% additional tariff.
– Terpenic by-products of the deterpenation of essential oils (3301 90 10), with a 10% additional tariff.
– Etc.
