Nicolas Garnier, Toly France

Premium Beauty News - Figures prove it. France remains the first country in the portfolio of the Toly Group!

Nicolas Garnier - That’s correct! France where Toly established itself in 1989 accounts for, more or less, 35% of the group’s turnover, depending of the years. Our position in France continues to strengthen and we took full advantage, during the past five years of the strategic shift decided by Andy Gatesy, namely an increased presence in the field of packaging intended for the skincare sector which currently accounts for 50% of our activity while this segment was equal to zero before 2006.

Which doesn’t mean we weren’t efficient in the make-up niche, quite the contrary. And the many products that we will be presenting at Luxe Pack Monaco will be there to prove it. It is clear that France is and will remain a leading base for the Group. We have made plans next year to extend our offices and strengthen our teams in spite of the economic situation.

Premium Beauty News - Certainly thanks to a diversified offer and this will to present each year always more novelties, you have the ability to attract, more than any other, a whole lot of small and medium size companies.

Nicolas Garnier - It is one of our strengths! We are fortunate to work with all major cosmetic groups but our largest customer represents less than 10% of the Group’s turnover. It is true that our diversified offer both in skincare and make-up allows us to approach many emerging brands in the world of SMEs. So much so that we managed to attract between ten to fifteen new customers each year.

Premium Beauty News - Airless systems are strong point of this "skin care" offer?

Nicolas Garnier - A strong point indeed. As Andy Gatesy explained it very well in your columns a few months ago, our entry in the world of airless was achieved at the top level and has led the group to build a factory in the suburbs of Seoul in 2010, the size of which was increased twofold recently. Toly Airless Packaging already exceeds 12 million euros in sales. Airless systems currently represent about 50% of our turnover in skincare. As you know, we have a very broad offer both in bottles, jars, droppers and various applicators. Latest innovation to date, which will surely be one of the "flagship" products of our presence at Luxe Pack Monaco, some transparent airless systems containing formulas in the form of spirals or featuring amazing effects....

Premium Beauty News - In the field of applicators, precisely, you are also operating in the segment of motorized systems.

Nicolas Garnier - A segment of interest for us, of course! We have been offering for more than a year now a dose delivery system that vibrates and offers an ionizing effect. And we have no intention of stopping our efforts there.

Premium Beauty News - A constantly enriched product portfolio!

Nicolas Garnier - The group is strengthening and diversifying itself in all segments of beauty packaging, regardless of the technology or material. As you know, we now offer lipstick tubes (made in India), make-up palettes, cardboard-made set-boxes (we just signed a new alliance partnership with Hung Hing, a major cardboard player in China) and a whole range of accessories made of aluminium or zamac. The group definitely aims to become a world leader in the field of luxury packaging for the cosmetic, skincare and perfume industry.
