The French fragrance composition house is launching FlorIndex 2.0, a consolidated and enhanced version of its eco-score for perfume formulas.

This new version introduces eight additional indicators. Climate impact is now assessed through the measurement of the formulas’ carbon footprint using the Global ScenTrack methodology. Biodiversity considerations have also been strengthened, with increased scrutiny of deforestation risks and the protection of endangered species. Greater emphasis is placed on chronic toxicity as well, with particular attention given to potential endocrine disruptors.

Furthermore, to improve the tool’s robustness, the databases have been updated with new data.

46 indicators

"From its inception, FlorIndex was designed as a tool for continuous improvement, grounded in a scientific and collaborative approach to eco-design. Recognizing the urgent need to engage a broad ecosystem to drive meaningful environmental and societal impact, we collaborated closely with our suppliers, gathering over 70,000 data points. This comprehensive approach now enables us to measure the 46 indicators that make up FlorIndex 2.0 with precision and rigor,” explained Christophe Mangalte, CSR & Quality Director at TechnicoFlor.

TechnicoFlor also emphasizes that FlorIndex 2.0 enables clients to receive the score obtained for each of the five stages of the fragrance development cycle.

"With brands increasingly committed to sustainability and consumers demanding transparency to make informed choices, adapting FlorIndex to meet these evolving expectations was essential," added Maxime Gransart, Deputy Managing Director of TechnicoFlor.

As with the original version, FlorIndex 2.0 is validated by the independent certification agency AFNOR Certification.
