Silab reveals scalp care benefits of active ingredient Exfolactive

Obtained from the flowers of nopal (Opuntia ficus-indica), better known as prickly pear cactus, Exfolactive [1] is a patented exfoliating natural active ingredient that boosts the endogenous processes of desquamation (KLK-5) [2]. As such, it represents a natural alternative to mechanical or chemical exfoliants. As a result of its original mechanism of action, Exfolactive reduces the quantity of dandruff by 26.1%, at the same time as significantly boosting hydration of the scalp by 13.8% after only 5 days of application. Tests also show that these effects continue or even increase after 14 days of daily application, when a significant reduction of sensations of stinging and general discomfort is observed. All these effects were also perceived by volunteers.

Exfolactive therefore represents a true natural alternative to mechanical or chemical exfoliants in all products intended for scalp care. Silab’s recommended concentrations ranges from 0.5% to 4%.
