TFWA World Exhibition, which closed on Friday 26th October 2012 in the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, exceeded expectations of its organizers.
The event hosted a record number of exhibiting companies - 462 - of which 39 were new to the show or returning after an absence, compared with 457 companies last year.
Furthermore, for the first time, the number of trade visitors exceeded 6,000. A total of 6074 people, up 4% from last year, from 2877 companies (+5%) visited the exhibition during the week. This compares with a final figure of 5868 people from 2737 companies last year.
“Of that total 4260 (70%) were key duty free and travel retail operators, landlords and agents from 1726 companies,” commented the organisers. The top ten originating countries of the visitors were France, UK, Germany, UAE, USA, Korea, Russia, Netherlands, Spain and Italy.
Next year TFWA World Exhibition will take place from 20th to 25th October in Cannes. Before then members of the duty free and travel retail community will assemble at the MEDFA Conference on 26th and 27th November in Dubai, at the inaugural Industry Conference on China in Beijing from 5th to 7th March organised by TFWA and APTRA, and at TFWA Asia Pacific Conference & Exhibition from 12th to 16th May in Singapore.
