Luxury packaging manufacturer Groupe Pochet has taken a stake in French startup MagREEsource. Created in 2020, the young company has developed an innovative production process for recycled magnets. The investment was made through Pochet Participations, the group’s new venture capital arm dedicated to providing financial and commercial support to industrial startups.

Making perfume caps more sustainable

The technology developed by MagREEsource enables the recycling of magnets from sources such as dismantled wind turbines and electric motors. According to Pochet, this solution reduces the carbon footprint of a recycled magnet by a factor of ten compared to conventional production.

By recycling magnets that require the use of rare earths — strategic materials essential for the energy transition — MagREEsource is committed to strengthening manufacturers’ strategic autonomy.

MagREEsource and the Pochet Group have collaborated for several years with the aim to produce recycled magnets in France for the beauty industry, sourced from the dismantling of obsolete equipment, especially for perfume caps.

New startup fund

We are delighted to launch our startup fund with MagREEsource, a company we have been working with for several years and which fully meets our investment criteria: virtuous disruptive technology, sovereignty issues, and strong demand from the beauty market for this type of solution,” said Alexis Gosset, Director of Strategic Partnerships at the Pochet Group.

Pochet believes that this initial investment marks the beginning of an ambitious collaborative dynamic for the group. Other projects are reportedly already under consideration.

This bold move, given the current context, reflects the Pochet Group’s DNA: it is our responsibility to support young French companies in order to preserve a competitive industry in our country,” said Xavier Gagey, Chairman of the Pochet Group’s Executive Board.
