Piramal Glass Ltd, a global specialist in design, production and decoration of premium glass packaging solutions for the cosmetics and perfumery, specialty food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries, has announced an investment of US$42 million in their Jambusar plant, in the Gujarat state, India.

The expansion plan includes a new furnace with seven new manufacturing lines, catering primarily to high-end specialty spirit, food & beverage and pharmaceutical markets primarily for exports to countries in Asia, Europe and the US. As Piramal glass already serves these markets through their plant in the US, the new facility will mainly address the fast-growth Asian market.

Mr. Vijay Shah, Vice Chairman, Piramal Glass Ltd at the Groundbreaking Ceremony. Piramal is investing US$42 million to add a new furnace of 250 Tonnes Per Day (TPD) with 7 new manufacturing lines catering in their Jambusar plant, in the Gujarat state, India.

The Jambusar plant already houses three furnaces with 23 manufacturing lines and produces 540 tonnes per day of glass. It currently employs 2,130 people and with this expansion it will create an additional direct employment to about 700 people.

Piramal Glass operates from India, Sri Lanka and the US through four manufacturing facilities and several decoration plants with a production capacity of 1435 tonnes per day of glass from 12 furnaces and 63 production lines. The company achieved global sales of US$357 million: 40% in the high-end cosmetics and perfumery market, 37% in the specialty spirits market and 23% in the pharmaceutical market.
