The third edition of Packaging Première, Milan’s luxury packaging exhibition, will be held on 28-30 May 2019. The organisers expect to host about 230 exhibitors (vs 203 in 2018). The event was launched in 2017 with 96 exhibitors, most of which were Italian manufacturers. The show is now aiming to increase the number of international exhibitors and visitors, especially from other European countries.

Year on year we have noticed a growing interest from foreign brands and manufacturers, including Spanish firms. Just 25% of exhibitors were from other countries in the first year. In the long term, we hope this figure will reach 40% or 50% in order to establish this as an international show based in Milan,” adds Pier Paolo Ponchia, the founder of the event.

However, according to Mr. Ponchia, the exhibition will remain relatively intimate and “selective”, with a maximum of 280 exhibitors in the coming years. “Historically speaking we can boast extensive experience in the gourmet sector, not to mention wines and spirits. We do not have such a good tradition in the perfume and cosmetic sectors, which is why we want to boost these categories over the next few years. I am particularly keen to establish a balance between the various sectors,” he says.

Packaging Première also intends to leverage its Milan localisation to put its focus on design. “Numerous designers draw inspiration from our event for innovative materials and new products. Our 2018 Paper Art Gallery featured works by renowned paper artists and provides a great response to requests from agencies in this sector,” said Mr. Ponchia.

Art will continue to take centre stage in next edition: the Art Gallery will be extended to more materials, including wood, plastics and glass. Internationally renowned artist, Lorenzo Petrantoni, will take care of the coordinated image of this third edition.

The next Packaging Première will be held at Fieramilanocity from 28-30 May 2019.
