The Finnish packaging board manufacturer has launched a project to modernise the finishing operations at its Kemi mill.
Metsä Board will therefore modernize the winder of the factory’s cardboard machine. The operations must be implemented during the annual maintenance shutdown scheduled for October-November 2026.
Through this investment, Metsä Board aims to strengthen quality of its products and the reliability and efficacy of its production and supply chain. The company thus expects to further strengthen its position as a world-leading supplier of coated white-top kraftliners.
“This winder modernisation strengthens our finishing operations and supports our ability to deliver consistent, high-quality products to our customers,” says Tomi Seppä, VP Kemi Board Mill. “At the same time, it improves operational stability and ensures dependable deliveries.”
With an annual production capacity of approximately 465,000 tonnes, Metsä Board Kemi is the world’s largest producer of coated white-top kraftliners. Its products are used as the top layer in corrugated packaging worldwide. The investment supports the mill’s role in the global supply chain by further strengthening its ability to serve customers with consistent quality and reliable deliveries.
