Specializing in the processing of metals such as aluminum, brass, steel, tin, and zamak for luxury packaging — including wines and spirits, perfumery, and cosmetics — Segede is enhancing its Made-in-France offering, with the goal of giving customers a consistent choice between production in Europe or in China.

Dual sourcing

The hybrid proposal, coordinated between France and China, aims to provide brands with an industrial approach that combines French quality with competitive pricing, in the configuration best suited to their specific needs.

Criteria such as rotational shapes, decorative techniques and their application methods, the level of automation required for each operation, and brands’ ESG commitments are all taken into consideration when making the choice.

To ensure this dual sourcing, Segede operates twin production sites in China and France, whose teams are fully integrated into the same group. Methods are harmonized between the two continents, and quality control remains in France.

Working with China makes sense when production is transparent and guaranteed. Conversely, why manufacture in China a product that France is capable of producing at the same price?” comments Patrick Trescartes, General Manager at Segede Industrie.

Environmental targets

For Segede, expanding its European offering alongside production at its Chinese factory aligns with the recent reclassification of zamak, whose carbon footprint has been reassessed downward and whose recyclability is now fully recognized.

And to further meet sustainability expectations and the future requirements of the Digital Product Passport (DPP) and PPWR, Segede also offers sourcing of 90% recycled zamak or aluminum in accordance with ISO 14201, providing full traceability and comprehensive carbon calculation.

This strategic positioning represents a powerful lever for brands, which are already recognizing its advantages and identifying opportunities to relocate part of their production closer to Europe,” claims the company in a press release.
