The European retailer of prestige fragrances and beauty products has partnered with digital brand experience creator Revieve to develop a digital sun care advisor for its customers in Italy. Dubbed “AI Suncare Advisor”, the tool has been designed to provide consumers a hyper-personalized brand experience that helps them discover the most suitable sun care routine based on their skin, their environment, and their lifestyle preferences.
Going beyond preconceived ideas
"Suncare products have historically had a bad reputation. Most people think they are sticky, messy, and only suited to one skin type. That reputation plus lack of sun prevention education makes some people shy away from sun protection," says Sampo Parkkinen, CEO of Revieve. “At the same time, consumers are more than ever vocal about their concerns for proper sun care and the need for personalized options to protect their skin from the harmful effects of sun exposure.”
This gap inspired Revieve and Marionnaud to develop a new way to enlighten consumers about the importance of sun protection, and help them better understand their skin concerns and conditions, while guiding them on their personal sun care journey.
"The challenge was to provide all that within one seamless online experience," emphasizes Parkkinen.
Customised on-line experience
Available on the retailer’s website the experience consists of three easy steps.
At first, consumers input their concerns and expectations out of a sun care routine. Next, they take a selfie that’s analysed with patented mobile selfie diagnostics based on advanced selfie skin metrics to detect essential sun exposure concerns, such as hyperpigmentation, melasma, freckles, and wrinkles. Finally, the user is provided with an optimal sun care routine proposal consisting in a curated list of Marionnaud sun care products.
"The AI Suncare Advisor makes it easier for customers to find suitable sun care products tailored to their desired sun care goals. Accounting for each individual user’s lifestyle, the AI Suncare Advisor empowers Marionnaud shoppers to educate themselves about their skin health and needs by taking into consideration skin tone, skin type, personal skin health concerns, current lifestyle and environmental factors that may affect their skin," concludes Parkkinen.
