The French flavour and fragrance manufacturer laid the foundation stone in late September for its future Fragrance Design Centre in Bar-sur-Loup, in the Grasse region of southern France.

Spanning an 8,900 m² site, the new facility will be dedicated to the creation, evaluation, and development of fragrances for Mane’s Consumer Goods business. The group plans to invest EUR 45 million in the project, which will accommodate around 250 people, including perfumers, evaluators, scientific experts, development teams, and technical staff. The centre is scheduled to open in 2028.

“The laying of this foundation stone marks a significant milestone for Mane. This project reflects our commitment to preparing for the future of fragrance creation while strengthening our historical roots in Grasse. The future Fragrance Design Centre will be a hub of creativity, collaboration, and innovation, serving our clients and our teams,” said Samantha Mane, President of the group.

A focus on environmental performance

The new creative centre will support clients across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) in developing future fragrances. According to Mane, the project responds to the evolving needs of the fragrance industry, particularly growing expectations for creativity, naturalness, performance, and environmental and social responsibility.

The building has been designed to comply with France’s RE2020 environmental regulations, which set requirements for building energy performance and environmental impact.

The project also includes rooftop photovoltaic panels with a total capacity of 178 kWp. The renewable energy generated is expected to help reduce the facility’s electricity needs and the carbon footprint associated with its energy consumption.

The Mane Group operates 54 R&D centres and 31 production sites worldwide, employing more than 8,500 people across 41 countries.
