L’Oréal reduces CO2 emissions of its production by 50%

One year after the launch of L’Oréal’s Sharing Beauty with All programme for sustainable development, the French cosmetics giant has unveiled the first measured results of its efforts. According to the group, the first achievements feature:

- a reduction of CO2 emissions of the Group’s production by 50% in absolute terms, from a 2005 baseline;
- an improved environmental or social profile for 67% of the new products screened;
- 54,000 jobs created for people from underprivileged communities in social or financial difficulty.

"The reduction of CO2 emissions of our production by 50% in absolute terms since 2005 was achieved while our production increased by 22% over the same period. This result proves that performance and responsibility can go hand in hand," said Alexandra Palt, L’Oréal’s Chief Sustainability Officer.

L’Oréal is committed to present a yearly report with key performance indicators quantifying its progress in sustainable development as part of its Sharing Beauty with All programme for 2020.
