After 10 years as the Global President of Kiehl’s, Cheryl Vitali has been appointed to the newly created position of Global President of L’Oréal’s portfolio of American luxury brands, which includes Urban Decay, It Cosmetics, Clarisonic, and Kiehl’s.

Under Vitali’s leadership, Kiehl’s, a 169-year-old apothecary skincare company evolved from a small, indie skincare brand in the US to a leading global brand, where it now ranks among the top five across key markets including Asia, Europe, and North America, said the group in a statement.

After receiving her B.A. from Yale University, her first job was in advertising. Since joining L’Oréal in 2003, Ms. Vitaly has overseen the marketing efforts at some key L’Oréal brands, including Lancôme, Maybelline, and Garnier.

Succeeding Cheryl as Kiehl’s Global President is Leonardo Chavez. With 20 years of experience within the group, Mr. Chavez has held a variety of strategic assignments across the company’s luxury, consumer and professional product divisions.

Born in Mexico City, Leonardo Chavez has an MBA from New York University and lives in New York City. He began working at L’Oréal in 2000 w apothecary here he served in various roles at the Maybelline and Lancôme cosmetics brands, before being appointed Head of Global Marketing for Maybelline New York in 2007. In 2011, Leonardo was named Global General Manager for the Matrix brand in the Professional Products Division. In 2015, Leonardo rejoined Maybelline New York as their Global Brand President where he helped the brand maintain relevance in a very dynamic makeup market through digitalization, improved speed to market and innovative consumer engagement strategies.
