Imerys launches new absorber for deodorants and anti-perspirants

On the occasion of the in-cosmetics 2015 tradeshow, Imerys will be showcasing its new ImerCare 400D grade, a high absorbency substance derived from natural diatomaceous earth [1] for personal care products such as deodorants and anti-perspirants.

Imerys has engineered the most water- and oil-absorbent diatomaceous earth (DE) product available on the market today, ImerCare 400D. This exceptional absorbency power is due to the exceedingly high surface area of the mineral particles, a result of the unique morphology of the deposit from which this specific DE product is mined,” claims the company.

Due to its microporous structure, ImerCare 400D improves the dry touch of deodorants and helps accelerate sweat drying, reducing body odour.

Imerys adds that ImerCare 400D is a natural product. “It is not treated with chemicals during processing. It is compliant with cosmetic regulation (EC) n° 1223/2009 and EcoCert certified.

[1] Diatomaceous earth is a naturally occurring, soft, siliceous sedimentary rock that is easily crumbled into a fine white to off-white powder.
