In the era of skinification across all beauty and wellness categories, it’s no longer just about what we apply to our skin, but everything around us that is now expected to soothe both body and mind.

Textures play a key role. Textiles, linens, throws, rugs, and curtains are adopting soft, sensory, and natural fibers — linen, organic cotton, wool — with the aim of offering a tactile experience similar to that of body care. Once overlooked in interior design, touch is now taking center stage. We crave textures that invite comfort and materials that encourage cocooning. Lighting, too, is evolving — ambiances are becoming soft, diffuse, and adjustable. Mood lamps, nightlights, and systems with adjustable intensity or shadow effects help regulate the circadian rhythm and relax the body and mind.

For its 2025 edition, Maison & Objet has brought together its entire home care and air care offerings in a new Fragrance & Wellness space. Among the multitude of diffusers, scented candles, and room sprays on display, the offerings were no longer limited to simple fragrance but also aimed to convey an emotion, a moment of pampering — as if the home were becoming an extension of the body, a second skin to be purified, soothed, and nourished.

Extending the body’s envelope

Illustrating this trend, Esteban Paris’s new Origin Edition fragrance mist diffuser uses cold, waterless pulsed-air technology, paired with a soft, adjustable light that is both decorative and soothing. The wireless and rechargeable system is fully portable and can be placed in any room, adapting to the moment and need. Its diffusion intensity can be adjusted to suit spaces of up to 100 m².

Unveiled at Maison & Objet 2025, the young French brand In The Corner seeks to reinvent home care as a sensory ritual. “I created In The Corner because my home is my refuge — place of balance, calm, and serenity, where I appreciate spending time with my loved ones. I believe our environment deeply shapes our everyday well-being. We all have care rituals for our skin, hair, and body… but what about when it comes to caring for our home?,” said founder Laurence Descoins.

The launch collection features three products — a dishwashing liquid, a hand and body soap, and a multi-surface cleaner — formulated with natural ingredients and free from controversial substances. Entirely made in France, the range is designed as both functional essentials and decorative objects. Its exclusive olfactory signature, Citrus Aurantium, was developed by Flair.

For its part, to transform and purify indoor air, Aer Inside turns to probiotics — ingredients long absent from household products but increasingly embraced in skincare. According to the company, when incorporated into home fragrance formulas, these probiotics help reduce the ubiquity of certain allergens to deliver a cleaner and “better-smelling air that’s pleasant to breathe every day.” By balancing indoor microflora, Aer Inside’s formulas significantly diminish airborne dust mites, birch pollen, and even pet hair allergens. [1]. Developed in collaboration with Cinquième Sens, the fragrances are available in home formats with an ultrasonic ceramic diffuser, as well as in travel sizes. White-label creations are also available for hotels and spas.

Beyond these three examples, much of the Fragrance & Wellness space highlighted eco-responsible materials, local craftsmanship, and objects that blend decorative, sensory, and well-being functions. Today, it’s no longer enough for our home to be beautiful — it must also support body and mind, and, whenever possible, the planet.
