Glossier is disrupting the beauty world once again, with the launch of its debut eye cream. The cult beauty brand has unveiled ’Bubblewrap,’ a hybrid product designed for use on both the eyes and lips. Described as a “one-of-a-kind eye + lip plumping cream” by the brand, it boasts an antioxidant-rich formula that aims to hydrate and protect the delicate skin around both areas.
The cream contains hyaluronic acid, squalane and avocado oil to moisturize, as well as blueberry extract, to act as an antioxidant. Its lightweight water-in-oil emulsion formula means it can be worn under makeup.
Glossier fans have been hankering after the product for a long time. “This was our No. 1 requested skin-care product - an eye cream,” Melissa Souto, Glossier’s director of product marketing and development, told Allure.
’Bubblewrap’ is the latest in a string of major beauty launches for Glossier, which unveiled a whole new colour cosmetics line called ’Glossier Play’ earlier this year. The line, which was two years in the making, comprises playful makeup solutions in vivid hues, spanning everything from lipstick and highlighter to gel eyeliner. The brand, which was founded in 2013 and became an instant hit with beauty buffs for its skincare solutions, also hit multiple major milestones last year, raising US$52 million in Series C fundraising and opening a new brick-and-mortar flagship boutique in New York.
