The Fragrance Ingredients business at Givaudan is unveiling a new natural ingredient created to infuse personal care and fine fragrance products with a unique scent identity.

Developed at the company’s House of Naturals in Grasse, France, Labdanum Absolute SIGNature is extracted from the cistus [1] plant found in the Andalusia region of Spain.

According to Givaudan, this new absolute captures the radiant warmth of the Mediterranean shores, unveiling a dry, lingering amber facet, enriched by woody and mineral nuances.

Our innovation team has leveraged advanced engineering processes to elevate the crude cistus extract into a highly refined labdanum absolute. This breakthrough exemplifies our strategic focus on delivering high-performance raw materials that drive value for our customers and demonstrates our commitment to pushing the boundaries of the natural ingredients industry,” explained Paul-Erwan Camenen, Head of Fragrance Ingredients Business at Givaudan.

The cistus plants are hand-harvested and processed at a factory near Seville, upholding a regional tradition. In line with local environmental regulations, harvest practices are based on selective cutting, with the aim to preserve Andalusia’s environmental heritage.

The major trends and latest innovations in fragrance development will be presented and discussed at the upcoming Fragrance Innovation Summit on November 26 in Paris.
