American singer Billie Eilish lit up social networks with the announcement that her very first perfume, "Eilish," would launch in November. In line with her commitment to veganism, the artist has chosen a formulation without any ingredients of animal origin…

All it took were two posts on Instagram to trigger a tidal wave of ’likes’ — over 9 million in just a few hours. Yet after Britney Spears to Ariana Grande to Kim Kardashian or Beyoncé, it might just be one more celebrity scent on the market! However, Billie Eilish, beyond her well-established reputation in music, is also beloved by her followers for her involvement in animal issues and other causes

A cozy scent with a political dimension

As a first opus, Billie Eilish Fragrances therefore launches a warm, enveloping fragrance, with fruity aromas, associated with sweet spices, cocoa, vanilla, musk, tonka bean, and woody scents. All encapsulated in a bottle shaped like a female bust, the cap representing the lower half of a woman’s face.

And since Billie Eilish is never shy about expressing her commitment to veganism, the fragrance is also designed to be ’clean’, entirely vegan, and cruelty-free, as the American edition of Cosmopolitan, who spoke with the singer, points out.

Admittedly, this is not a technical feat, since there are hardly ingredients derived from animals in modern perfumery, and since animal testing for cosmetics is banned in Europe and in many countries. However, the interest generated by the launch shows the ability of inspiring and committed personalities to generate buy-in (and sales) on social media!

The Californian singer has been busy since the beginning of the year, transforming her involvement in animal welfare into consumer goods with the creation of two vegan sneaker models for Nike — the Air Jordan 15 and the Air Jordan 1 AJKO — in monochrome tones and designed with 20% recycled materials.

Billie Eilish isn’t the only celebrity in the vegan fragrance niche. Ariana Grande also presented an entirely vegan and cruelty-free fragrance this summer called "God Is a Woman." We’ll have to wait until November to discover this first fragrance, which will retail for 68 dollars on

"Billie Eilish is a singular talent and the voice of a generation. She has a vision in everything she does that is unique, disruptive, and authentically hers. Partnering with Billie was natural for Parlux because we can bring a vision to life like no one else, and we were equally excited to be on this journey together," said Lori Singer, President, Parlux Ltd, the company behind the fragrance.
