Held by Cosmetic Valley, the 12th edition of Cosmetic 360 is marked by the rising number of innovations introduced for the first time at a cosmetics show. “The show managed to find its own place on the global level. It is a major event for the whole industry, and it is designed to put a strong emphasis on innovation”, says Franckie Béchereau, the event’s Director.
‘Regenerations’ as a common theme
This year’s theme puts the spotlight on innovations ‘for positive impact’ at different levels.
“Regeneration is the ability to go beyond neutrality and act positively, on the environment, of course, but it can also be on skin, or society. It is a key, topical issue. Fifty exhibitors are related to this theme, which proves the industry is embracing this new direction at multiple levels: skin regeneration, resources and ecosystems, but also production and dispensing methods”, she explains.
Visitors will be able to explore this theme across the exhibition area, during the conferences, and through a special jury prize at the Cosmetic 360 Awards. Held annually, the awards recognize the innovations most widely acclaimed by the trade press.
A broad range of exhibitors
This year’s show will welcome various types of exhibitors, both in terms of typology and geographical origins. “We have 38 startups that are less than five years old, a majority of SMEs, and of course, large groups that come to take part in innovation challenges, find innovative project leaders, and also position themselves as fully-fledged innovation players”, says Béchereau.
Apart from companies attending as exhibitors, the Research Area, which spreads across more than 60 m2, brings together players involved in academic and fundamental research to support the industry, and facilitates opportunities to meet researchers.
When it comes to geographical origins, Europe is the most represented continent; it is followed by widely present Asian countries like Thailand, South Korea, Japan, and China. Morocco will also be there, in particular with an association promoting the perfume rose, as well as a few players from the Americas, including Peru – a country committed to regenerative farming in the Amazon rainforest, in relation to this year’s theme.
“The show unites the main drivers of the global cosmetics industry, including 15 of the 19 members of the Global Cosmetics Cluster”, says the Director.
Nutricosmetics make a first appearance at the show
This year, a new area is dedicated to the related field of nutricosmetics. It is designed to identify and share the existing bridges between the two sectors. The area will bring together all players, from marketing to market positioning, ingredients, formulas, and regulations.
“Visitors will be able to meet all of those in order to identify synergies, and perhaps take the plunge by launching a nutricosmetics range complementing their existing cosmetics offering. Right now, the nutricosmetics sector is looking for new growth drivers, and this strategy is part of a more holistic approach to beauty”, emphasizes Béchereau.
These players will speak at Talks, which will be short, technical, targeted presentations that will feed the discussions.
Predicting the future: the Greentech capsule 2.0
Greentech created a new ‘anticipation capsule’ with Le Comptoir Prospectiviste, focused on the theme ‘Biotechs in 20 years’. This year, the prospective study takes the form of a video introducing the six scenarios chosen by last year’s visitors, each of which is embodied by an ‘influencer of the future’ projected in 20 years.
“Cosmetic 360 is also a show for engagement that invites the industry to reflect and collectively recognize the need to move towards a cosmetics industry ever more closely linked to wellness, inclusiveness, and respect for life in all its forms”, says the Director.
Another area will host the Centdegrés agency’s innovation roundtable: it will bring together all the experts needed for the innovative development of a cosmetic product.
A week of networking
Alongside the show, the Cosmetic Week will provide further opportunities for networking. Other than the traditional international gala night, the program will offer a retail tour in line with this year’s theme, with the visit of atypical and trend-setting points of sale in Paris. Lastly, in partnership with the Choose Paris Region economic development agency, the International Tour will enable international visitors to discover business location opportunities outside Paris. This year, the show chose Clichy and Gennevilliers, west of the French capital city.
Just like every year, the event will be opened with an official ceremony, but for the first time, it will be attended by representatives from various political groups, with a view to promoting the interests of the cosmetics industry in the run-up to the French presidential elections.
Organizers are aiming for a similar level of attendance to that of the previous year, which attracted 5,600 unique visitors over two days.
