PT Cosmax Indonesia, a subsidiary of the Seoul-headquartered cosmetics maker, has received halal certification for its manufacturing facilities from international accreditation agency, Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI).

MUI certifications are recognized in 40 countries around the world,” said Cosmax in a release mentioning the certification as “a first step to accelerate sales in ASEAN countries”.

According to Cosmax, the halal cosmetics market is estimated to be worth 100 trillion Korean wons (86.7 billion USD) and it is expected to grow as more and more Muslim consumers are looking for products complying with the Islamic law.

The international halal certification of the Cosmax Indonesia facility will help us to become a hub for the exportation of halal cosmetic products,” explains Cosmax. “We’ll work to meet the needs of our Muslim beauty consumers in Southeast Asia, but also in other parts of the world wher the demand for halal products is growing, such as in the Middle East”.
