Following a series of exploratory expeditions conducted since 2022 in Fernando de Noronha, in the Amazon Rainforest, and in the Caatinga biome, Apoena Biocare has already isolated approximately 1,000 strains that are in the process of identification and screening for potential applications, ranging from commodity ingredients, such as biosurfactants, to specific active ingredients for skin longevity, cellular detox, hair growth and strength, hydration, acne treatment and wound healing, stimulation of skin firmness, treatment of dark circles, fat reduction, and anti-cellulite action, among others.

The new wave in the cosmetics industry is sustainability, which undoubtedly involves biotechnology. Those who have failed to keep up with this revolution are already falling behind. We have always understood that biotechnology is more than just a trend – it is a shift in the industrial platform, which is crucial for keeping the planet alive. We consider it extremely significant that a Brazilian company is presenting the potential of our biomes to the world at in-cosmetics Global. International demand for ingredients derived from native biodiversity is growing rapidly, and Brazil plays a unique role in this scenario. Biotechnology is already the sector’s greatest global need, rapidly replacing synthetic ingredients and opening up room for more effective, sustainable, and traceable solutions,” said Patrícia Mendes, Director of New Business at Apoena Biocare.

With its extensive library of exclusive microorganisms, Apoena Biocare enables customers to create unique, innovative solutions—from new product development and scale-up to batch production and toll manufacturing.
