For instance, the jury members remind they will not only focus on disruptive products. An existing product can be redesigned and improved from a sustainable point of view for example, and be considered innovative because it offers a better user experience. Sustainability is now imperative in aerosol design, in addition to surprising simplicity, problems solving, ease of use and product communication. The jury members also encourage more aerosol companies to enter and to believe in their projects! They also invite participants to send samples with their entry as most of them are engineers and enjoy seeing the products!

The PCD Innovation Awards celebrate the best in the cosmetic packaging industry.

Two guest speakers and jury members, Corinne Fugier-Garrel (Packaging Concept Development DIrector, L’Occitane en Provence) and Frederic Dreux (R&D Packaging Leader – Unilever Prestige) discussed the hot topics currently facing the industry, and what judges are looking for in each entry.

The jury members will be looking for technical innovations in production, processing and/or filling, innovations related to sustainable development, the consumers experience, decoration, shape, ergonomics and/or ease of use, market opportunities, and excellence in production. They will focus on packaging that bring a real change to the market, while serving products, brands and consumers with relevance, and protecting the planet.

The PLD Innovation Awards will recognise and celebrate the world’s best packaging innovations in all types of premium and luxury drinks.

Five jury members and experts from the most recognised brands including Coca-Cola, Havana Club, Pernod-Ricard Group, La Martiniquaise, Hennessy and Martell Mumm-Perrier-Jouët Pernod-Ricard Group, give the key to a successful entry and discussed the innovation trends they observe for the upcoming year.

According to them, packaging sustainability (5R) plays a key role today. Brands must demonstrate a genuine commitment and explain how it guides their creative process, while also paying attention to the product lifecycle.

The jury will also examine the consistency of the product story and the care given to each entry. They expect surprise, emotion, technical advances, new ways of communication or new business models, and disruptive innovations. ‘’The best packaging is the result of collaborative partnerships between suppliers, agencies, and brands, while considering the consumers’ experience, needs and expectations’’. Especially in the current context, although it is difficult to predict trends, a return to simplicity and minimalism, combined with aesthetics seems to prevail.
