The French FiFi Awards, an annual event sponsored by The Fragrance Foundation France that took place this year on Tuesday, April 7 in Paris, honored the best perfumes to hit the country’s shelves in 2014. Three fragrances truly stood out this year: Valentino Uomo by Valentino, Black Opium by Yves Saint Laurent, and L’Homme Idéal by Guerlain.

The 23rd edition of these awards assembled no fewer than 470 industry professionals and journalists to enjoy the traditional gala dinner and discover the new winners of the FiFi Awards. Sixteen prizes were awarded this year, including a new one, the FiFi d’Or (which awards the best ensemble of bottle, scent and campaign), selected by a jury made up of leading figures in arts and culture and presided over by Jean Paul Gaultier.
Three perfumes stood out at this special event. They were Valentino Uomo by Valentino, which took home the FiFi d’Or for men, as well as the award for best bottle design (men); Black Opium by Yves Saint Laurent, which won the awards for best women’s fragrance and best advertising communication for women; and L’Homme Idéal by Guerlain, which took home the FiFi Public Award for best men’s perfume as well as the prize for best advertising communication (men).

The Experts, a jury made up of 25 consultants, bloggers and journalists, selected two perfumes sold in less than 100 points of sale. The results: Corisca Furiosa, a fragrance by Parfum d’Empire, was awarded the prize for best niche perfume, while Cuir d’Ange by Hermès was designated best perfume by a luxury brand.
