Philippe Milazzo

Premium Beauty News - “Revolutionary” was the word that was most appropriate in 2008 when your group introduced for the first time this new technology! Five years later, what are the achievements?

Philippe Milazzo - You know, it’s never easy to introduce a radically new technology on a market. But after five years, one can really be optimistic. I will recall the technique in a few words. You start by manufacturing a container using extrusion blow moulding or injection blow moulding, then it is overmoulded using a specific injection technique with Surlyn®, an overmoulding that can take a different form. At the same time, the overmoulded container can benefit from any type of decoration. You can also insert something between this inner container and the Surlyn® overmoulded part. Of course, and you are aware of that since we have a partnership with Bormioli Luigi, the container can also be overmoulded with glass.

Main advantages of this Surlyn® 3D technology, an unparalleled aesthetic result, the possibility of having multiple shapes both for the inner and the outer container, and an excellent deep, glass-like transparency, not to mention the possibility of having the decoration literally sandwiched between the primary container and its Surlyn® shell, as if it was suspended between the two.

Of course, this also allows to condition products that would not necessarily be compatible if they were in direct contact with Surlyn®.

Premium Beauty News - The over moulding of a glass bottle works but has not found any applications yet. On the contrary, many plastic/plastic products are already on the market?

Philippe Milazzo - Absolutely! I can name a few like "Grandaine Luxage Skincare" by Kosé, "Aquagirl Brightup Foundation" and "Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus" by Estée Lauder. Each product has its own characteristics but each of them made the most of the unique advantages of this technique.

Other brands are on the brink of setting foot on the market in the coming weeks.

I must emphasize on the extraordinary variety of types of shapes and finishing that can be used with our technology. Small objects, pieces of fabric, granular products can be inlaid... You can play with hollows and reliefs...
