Back in the 70’s, Pierre Arpels came up with a completely new idea: to create the first fine jeweler’s perfume. Then, “First” was born in 1976. 40 years later, Van Cleef & Arpels is bringing back to life the myth of “First” by creating “So First”, a modern interpretation of the legendary perfume.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of its perfume, famous fine jeweller Van Cleef & Arpels has entrusted Axilone to produce the injected cap and the collar of So First.

The collar is made of ABS electroplated in shiny white bronze. The cap revives the iconic ring of the perfume which is made of clear surlyn.

The choice of a soft ABS associated with the right plating process allows an easy and direct assembly on the pump. In order to achieve the flawless transparency of the cap, the fit of the collar was adjusted in the surlyn to avoid an insert,” says Axilone.

Axilone knew that is it was key to keep the highly perceived value of the raw material. It was also critical to determine the ideal position of the injection point on the side of the part. “As experts in Surlyn, Axilone ran a 3D simulation to anticipate the injection flow. The optimum shape of the cap along with the exact position of the injection point could be confirmed at the very beginning of the project,” added the supplier.

All components are delivered to the brand’s filling facility and ready to be assembled on the pump.
