Beraca has launched two new natural ingredients for the cosmetics and personal care industry: Beracare DPS, an active ingredient with anti-inflammatory properties, which protects and regenerates the dermal layer, and the patauá oil, an ingredient sustainably extracted from a popular Amazonian palm tree that can be used as substitute for olive oil in cosmetics formulations.

Beracare DPS (Dermal Protective Active System) is Beraca’s first active ingredient to act in the dermal layer, contributing to skin protection and regeneration. According to the Brazilian company, its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties protect the skin from damage caused by UVA rays and help improving and maintaining its elasticity. “Suitable for use in skin care products, firming lotions and anti-age cosmetics, Beracare DPS improves fibroblast functionality and protective ability against oxidative stress and inflammatory stimuli, promoting a healthier and more balanced skin,” adds Beraca.

The Patauá oil is sourced from the fruit of the patauá, an Amazonian palm tree common in tropical rainforests, and which plays an important role in the regional cuisine with both its oil and pulp. Obtained through a vacuum refining method, the patauá oil is a powerful moisturizing agent with high oleic acid content (75%) and unique properties such as transparency and light, non-greasy feel. According to Beraca, it can be used as a substitute for olive oil in skin care and hair care products due to similarities in their fatty acid chain. “Like all other ingredients featured in Beraca’s RainForest Specialties line, the patauá oil is sustainably manufactured ensuring the conservation of natural resources, social and economic welfare of local communities involved in its production, and the traceability of its supply chain,” says the company.

The Brazilian-based supplier of natural ingredients sourced from the Amazonian rainforest and the Brazilian biodiversity, has showcased Beracase DPS and the patauá oil during In-Cosmetics 2013, which was held in Paris on 16-18 April. The two new ingredients, will be launched in Brazil at FCE Cosmetique, which will be held in São Paulo on 14-16 May, and on the U.S. market on the occasion of the NYSCC Suppliers’ Day (14-15 May) and the Sustainable Cosmetics Summit (16-18 May), both events to be held in New York.
