Earlier this month, Glossier surprised fans with a solid version of its fragrance "You," offering up the signature scent’s notes of ambrette, ambrox, musk, iris root and pink pepper in a creamy, transportable form. But although the concept of a fragrance that resembles a lip balm is charmingly retro, the product’s millennial pink packaging offers up a thoroughly modern twist.

Last spring saw US fashion designer Derek Lam reimagine his "10 Crosby" perfume line as a series of twist-up wax fragrance sticks that claim to offer up to six hours of wear.

Another example is Le Labo’s famous "Santal 33" fragrance comes as an eau de parfum, a solid perfume and a practical "liquid balm" - which features an alcohol-free formula and can be easily rolled onto any part of the body.

For the ultimate stress-free fragrance application, check out Pinrose’s perfume ‘petals’, or towelettes. Each wipe contains exactly one dose of scent, taking away the anxiety of potentially overdoing things.

Last but not least, Chanel recently launched the world’s first cushion fragrance, a technology usually used for liquid makeup products, such as liquid foundations. The Chance Eau Tendre Delicate Fragrance Touch-Up is a limited-edition item that can fit in any handbag.
