Jakob Sigurdsson has been appointed CEO of Iceland headquartered plastics manufacturer Promens. He’s replacing Ragnhildur Geirsdottir who has been CEO since 2006 and will take a seat on the board of directors.

Jakob is not unknown to Promens as he has been on the board of directors since March 2007.

Jakob comes from a job as Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at deCODE Genetics, a biopharmaceutical company with headquarters in Iceland. Jakob was formerly President & CEO of Alfesca, a multinational foods group with major operations in Iceland, the UK, France and Spain. Prior to his position at Alfesca he held senior positions in the United States and Europe for Rohm and Haas Company, a specialty materials company and a part of Dow Chemical.

Jakob holds a B.S. degree in chemistry from the University of Iceland and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
