The World Perfumery Congress, a biennial event that covers the entire fragrance industry value chain, will be held on 10-12 June 2014 in Deauville, France, at the Centre International. The event comprises an exhibition and a conference programme, aiming at providing visitors with insights into the latest industry updates and trends. This year’s event investigates the ‘Future of Fragrance’.

More than 14 seminars will cover topics including topics such as:

 ‘Growth Opportunities and Innovation’ led by Emmanuelle Moeglin, Global Fragrance Analyst at Mintel;
 ‘Technology Think Tank: Innovation Needs for Future Development’ presented by Thierry Audibert, Global Head of Fragrance Science & Technology at Givaudan and Mike Popplewell, Vice President, Corporate R&D, International Flavors & Fragrance Inc.;
 ‘Leading-edge Fragrance’ led by Jenny Tillotson, PhD, Central Saint Martins.

Opportunities in emerging markets will also be discussed. Kedar Vaze, Perfumer/Owner at Kelkar Group and Shigeru Sawamura, Senior Principal Researcher Global R&D, Perfumery Development at Kao Corporation will offer insights into opportunities in Asia, which currently represents 24 per cent of the fragrance market according to the International Fragrance Association. Africa and the Middle East will be put under the spotlight in a session moderated by Irina Barbalova, Head of Global Beauty and Personal Care Research at Euromonitor International, while Fanny Moreau from Mon Absolu will take a look at the Latin American market.

Some sessions will also focus on sustainability: Saouri Duborg, President, Nutrition & Health Division at BASF will present a session entitled Smart Sustainability, that delves into the meaning of sustainability for fragranced brands and products. This discussion will be complemented by a session on Ingredients for a Sustainable Future, featuring speakers from Firmenich, Ginkgo Bioworks, Symrise AG and International Flavors and Fragrances Inc.
