The Sustainable Cosmetics Summit will bring together industry leaders, sustainability experts and innovators in São Paulo on 6-7 July 2026 to examine the trends expected to shape the future of the beauty and personal care sector.
Now in its eighth Latin American edition, the summit will focus on emerging sustainability strategies, including conscious capitalism, artificial intelligence (AI), biomimicry, regenerative agriculture, bio-based materials and changing consumer expectations.
Opening the event, Hugo Bethlem of Capitalismo Consciente Brasil will discuss the growing influence of conscious capitalism. Titled Power of Purpose, his keynote will explore how purpose-driven business models can generate positive social and environmental impact while creating long-term value.
Innovation inspired by nature will also feature prominently. Giane Cauzzi Brocco, founder of Amazu Biomimicry, will examine how natural systems and designs can influence cosmetic product development and sustainable packaging solutions.
Decarbonization remains a major priority across the beauty industry. Angela Pinhati, Natura Brasil’s Chief Sustainability Officer, will present the company’s approach to carbon neutrality and share details of its Circular Carbon project, which supports emissions reduction within its supply chain by incentivizing small farmers. In another seminar, Coty’s Renato Wakimoto will outline how it has lowered the carbon footprint of aerosol products through packaging improvements and cross-functional collaboration involving materials, design and formulation teams.
Water stewardship will be another key topic. Ana Lúcia Vargas Arigony of L’Oréal will explain the company’s methodology for measuring the water footprint of cosmetic products, from raw material sourcing through to consumer use, and will share preliminary findings from its assessments.
The summit will also explore the growing role of regenerative agriculture in ingredient production. Daniel Araujo of the Regenerative Organic Alliance will discuss opportunities for sourcing cosmetic ingredients through regenerative farming practices and highlight the expansion of land certified under the Regenerative Organic Certification standard.
Emerging product categories will be addressed through a session on neurocosmetics. Giulio Peron of Casa Feito Brasil will provide insights into skincare products designed to interact with the nervous system, including the active ingredients used and their potential physiological benefits.
Artificial intelligence is set to be one of the event’s central themes. Simon Robinson, CEO and co-founder of Holonomics, will examine how AI is reshaping sustainability communication and customer engagement. Wayne Liu, Chief Growth Officer at Perfect Corp, will showcase AI- and augmented reality-driven beauty technologies, including skin analysis, hairstyle generation and other personalized consumer experiences.
Advances in sustainable materials will also be highlighted. Professor Sergio Ricardo Costa will present Biosynthis’ development of Coconut Alkanes as alternatives to petroleum-derived ingredients, while Croda Beauty will discuss low-carbon ingredients and Braskem will showcase applications for bio-based polymers in cosmetic packaging.
Consumer behavior will complete the sustainability discussion. Juliana Cavallari of Kantar will present new research into how sustainability influences purchasing decisions in Brazil, examining the gap between consumer intentions and actual behavior. A panel of industry experts will further explore how perceptions of packaging can be shifted, encouraging consumers to view packaging as a resource rather than waste and supporting wider adoption of sustainable consumption models.
Hosted at the Pullman São Paulo Ibirapuera, the summit aims to provide industry stakeholders with practical insights into the innovations, technologies and business models likely to define the next phase of sustainable growth in the beauty sector.
Organized by Ecovia Intelligence, the Sustainable Cosmetics Summit has been addressing sustainability challenges and opportunities in the cosmetics and personal care industry since 2009.
