In the context of increased awareness regarding the environmental problems linked to packaging waste, Schwan Cosmetics has joined the Sustainable Packaging Initiative for Cosmetics (SPICE) as a corporate member. The global market leader in the development and production of cosmetic pencils wants to contribute “to define the future of colour cosmetics from a sustainable innovation point of view combining great product performance and design with a sustainable value chain.

“Joining the SPICE Initiative is a logical step in our path to sustainable innovation,” said Dagmar Chlosta, Chief Market Officer Schwan Cosmetics

The SPICE initiative was co-founded in May 2018 by the L’Oréal Group and Quantis, a leading environmental sustainability consulting firm. SPICE members have joined together to address methodological issues when it comes to measuring the environmental footprint of the packaging of cosmetic products and to innovate in packaging eco-design.

Based on the experience gained from SPICE, Schwan Cosmetics intends to work on developing sustainable packaging policies as well as packaging innovations.

The Sustainable Packaging Initiative for CosmEtics -SPICE- members join together to collectively guide sustainable packaging policies, drive packaging innovation, and to meet consumer’s expectations on understanding the environmental performance of products.

Joining the SPICE Initiative is a logical step in our path to sustainable innovation,” explains Dagmar Chlosta, Chief Market Officer Schwan Cosmetics. “As a beauty manufacturer, we want to provide consumers with eco-friendly products and packaging that are in line with their beliefs in a sustainable planet. This is why we invest heavily in sustainable innovation on the packaging side. Being part of SPICE gives us the perfect opportunity to shape the future of the beauty industry hand in hand with other cosmetics brand and suppliers and to influence product impact on the environment in a positive way.
