The latest addition to the PrimalHyal range also taps into the power of hyaluronic acid to support the skin’s cellular life cycle. It specifically targets a skin aging pathway called "Neuro Skin Ageing," described by Givaudan Active Beauty in research presented at the IFSCC congress in 2025 [1].
Indeed, beyond its key barrier function, skin is also a living sensory network. However, with age, the number of nerve fibers in the skin declines; they become shorter and their functional efficacy decreases. This results not only in reduced sensory perception, but also in impaired cellular communication and accelerated skin ageing.
A hyaluronic acid-based amino-acid complex
To address this longevity pathway, Givaudan Active Beauty has leveraged the skin’s natural affinity for very low molecular weight hyaluronic acid (HA) as a vector to optimize the delivery into the skin of selected amino acids. This led to the development of PrimalHyal NeuroYouth, a HA-based amino-acid complex taking inspiration from micro-needling delivery concepts described in cosmetic and pharmaceutical literatures.
According to Givaudan, PrimalHyal NeuroYouth reverses the neuro-ageing pathway, enabling neuronal growth , enhancing neuronal communication pathways through NGF-like activity, reactivating neuronal mitochondria energetic efficiency. "By supporting the skin’s neuro-sensory environment and helping to preserve skin homeostasis, PrimalHyal NeuroYouth contributes to stronger-looking, healthier and more comfortable skin."
Clinical tests
In clinical studies conducted on more than 120 volunteers, PrimalHyal NeuroYouth delivered visible anti-ageing benefits, including: apparent skin age reduced by over 5 years; visible reduction in wrinkles and fine lines; as well as improvement in dermal tension and skin firmness. Furthermore, it also restored touch perception by up to 30 years.
“Beyond aesthetics, PrimalHyal NeuroYouth redefines skin ageing from a skin health perspective,” explains Romain Reynaud, R&D Director at Givaudan Active Beauty.
