Fresh off its success with the first Envers, in 2022 Lumson took another important step by developing Envers Glas: the first glass airless jar with a pouch. The sophisticated design combined with the use of glass, a noble, elegant material and a valid alternative to plastic, confirms how luxury, for the Italian company, is synonymous with minimalism, functionality, and aesthetic research.

In 2024, Lumson is making another substantial leap forward by launching a new version of Envers Glas. Remaining true to the principles of ’positive luxury’ and all of the elements that contributed to the success of the ’first’ Envers Glas, the new version ’looks to the future without betraying its past’. More precisely, the silhouette has been revamped and the formats expanded. While the jar becomes more streamlined, resulting in a compact yet elegant appearance, a 40mL format has been added to the existing 50mL thus expanding the range of applications.

Effectively catering to the needs of women who favor jar products for their skincare regimen, Envers Glas ensures maximum protection of the formula inside (thanks to the airless technology with a pouch), is practical to use, and ensures high product yield. Envers Glas, like all of Lumson’s airless products, has also been designed with recycling and recovery in mind: once the product has been used up, the glass and plastic components can be separated and disposed of appropriately using the correct recycling method. Last but not least: customization possibilities. Envers Glas can be decorated both externally and internally with printing technologies varying from screen printing and hot stamping to metallization and internal lacquering, that perfectly outline the contours of the bottle and emphasize the thickness, depth, and beauty of the glass.

Airless and glass, a winning combo

While glass, one of the most used materials in cosmetics, gives the package a certain uniqueness and distinctive elegance, airless technology, as the term suggests, protects the formula from external agents. A solution successfully used in cosmetics, skincare, and even in the pharmaceutical world to the point where the global airless market which was valued at $4.9 billion in 2020 is estimated to reach $8.7 billion by 2032, with a CAGR of 4.9% (source: alliedmarketresearch). According to The Packaging Company, the average shelf life of a product can be increased by 15% or more by using an airless system. These systems also minimize waste without compromising the integrity of the formulas inside. Undoubtedly, the increase in demand for prestige products has only revved up the demand for these kinds of solutions which enhance the product’s premium image.

In recent years, there has been growing interest in plastic alternatives and glass is one of them. The need for reusable and recyclable packaging has led to the market “rediscovering” glass, one of the oldest (it was invented 4000 years ago) and most versatile materials: it’s resistant, recyclable, and long-lasting over time, while also both elegant and refined. Another detail not to be overlooked is that it can be customized with various effects and decorations. If weight remains the biggest obstacle to a greater use of glass, research has been focused on reducing weight to contain greenhouse gas emissions in production, disposal, and even during the recycling phase, and on the use of post-consumer glass.
