Lan Vu, Beautystreams founder

There was hardly any online service to analyse trends in the beauty and cosmetics industry. Beautystreams intends to fills this gap. For its launch, the agency already offers access to a database of over 100,000 photographs, hundreds royalty free vector prints, and a solid global network of employees, partners and correspondents. The fledgling company based in Paris and New York aims at quickly attracting customers in the beauty industry, mainly the marketers of make-up, skin care and hair products.

Trends forecasts

What do we offer? High-level analysis and forecasts of trends, by experienced professionals, maximizing the practical benefits of a multimedia online service,” says Lan Vu, founder and CEO of Beautystreams. This former employee of Style Sight wants to bring the analysis of cosmetic trends into the digital age. “Internet allows us to broadcast multimedia data that can be used immediately by our customers. Photos and videos can then be reused easily within client companies, as prints that are sold royalty free."

The core of the service is formed by the trends forecasts that are delivered two times a year, one for each season (autumn-winter spring-summer). Most of the illustrations in the forecasts section are based on photographs from Beautystreams’ team members and correspondents. According to Lan Vu, this strategy avoids any kind of dependency on, sometimes outdated, databases that may provide videos already seen by thousands of people and it also offers subscribers the possibility of using images with HD quality.

Just like Lan Vu, who totalizes a 20 year professional background in forecasting trends, or Bengt Jacobsson, a renown forecaster, member of thePremière Vision’s Color Committee and a former employee of Carlin, all forecasters working for Beautystreams have strong professional paths.

A variety of inspirations

Beautystreams and its forecasters do not hesitate either to come across information in a variety of sectors, or from the most unexpected experts, that are interviewed every week to share their thoughts on trends in their area of excellence. A chef, a dermatologist, an architect and artists have already delivered their testimony. Once a month, a theme is analyzed through the focus of different industries. On the occasion of Beautystreams’ launch, water was thus the subject of detailed investigations in areas such as architecture, design, decoration, textile, fashion & beauty.

Of course, Beautystreams’ offer is not limited to the analysis of these macro-trends or to seasonal forecasts. The company also proposes to enter into concrete stuff by studying how its forecasts can be embodied in different phenotypes (skin or hair colour...). Beautystreams already provides access to a database of more 75,000 photos from fashion shows and cropped on faces and hairstyles.

Finally, Beautystreams’ staffs also travel the aisles of beauty tradeshows around the world where they try to hunt out the most innovative developments, or the most representative of the main product trends.
